Elders

Leonard Browning, Lead Pastor

Leonard, Cheryle, and Lindsey Browning
Leonard (Len) Browning is the Lead Pastor at The Journey at First Baptist. He received Christ as a youngster at The Journey and has been a part of the Journey for most of the last 40 years. He has served as an Elder for more than 10 years. In 2006 it seemed good to God, the membership and Len that he should serve as The Journey’s Lead Pastor.

He has been married to his High School sweetheart, Cheryle for 31 years. Leonard and Cheryle are excited to be a part of The Journey and would enjoy getting to know you. They have 5 grown children and 4 grand children who are their primary interest. In addition to enjoying being grandparents, Len and Cheryle enjoy reading, travel, camping and most sports or just being with others in a home setting.

Ivan Wooden, Elder

Ivan and Wendy Wooden
I was saved and baptized while attending church at North Phoenix Baptist Church, Phoenix Arizona on April 18, 1987. Our family returned to Colorado and started attending First Baptist church in the summer of 1987. We joined First Baptist Church as members sometime in the early 1990’s and have been members since then.

My wife Wendy and I were lead by the Lord to start Celebrate Recovery at the church in the summer of 2001. Being ministry leader of Celebrate is my primary function at the church apart from being an Elder.

My family and I have been truly blessed to belong to this body and are thankful that God chose to make our family a part of The Journey. We have three children: Jessie Cramer, a member of The Journey, Taylor, who lives in Rock Springs WY, and David, who lives with us in Craig.

Steve Herman, Elder

Steve and Debbie Herman
My wife, Debbie and I have been members here at First Baptist for quite some time. Debbie and I both received Christ as our personal Savior at a young age, and have been growing in Christ since then. We are extremely excited at what God is doing in our church with new faces attending every Sunday. I consider it a privilege to serve in the capacity as an Elder, and trust that the Lord will use me as His vessel to impact people’s lives.

Our hope would be that our ministry would show itself to be a haven for those in need, a challenge for those who are growing, and a beacon for those who are lost. One of our goals at First Baptist is to show ourselves friendly, no matter what your situation may be, and personally look forward to growing with others in Christ.
